Practical Information

USSP takes place at the University of Urbino, in Italy. Lectures and poster sessions take place on the city centre university campus, with geological field trips are in the surrounding area.

Travel

From Italy

train Pesaro Station, then take a bus to Urbino.

car A14 motorway: Pesaro-Urbino exit > SS. 423 Urbinate (see the route on Google Maps)

From abroad

plane Ancona, Rimini, Bologna or Milan airports. Then take a train to Pesaro and a bus to Urbino. Milan or Rome airports: the best is to take a plane to Ancona, then the train to Pesaro and the bus to Urbino. Otherwise there are trains from Milan or Rome railways stations to Pesaro.

ferry Ferry service to the port of Ancona, then take a train to Pesaro and a bus to Urbino.

Additional details

From Bologna, Rimini and Milan airports, you can take a bus (or a train from Rome and Milan) to the railway stations to take a train to Pesaro.

From Ancona airport you can take a train to either railways stations of Falconara Marittima or Ancona to take a train to Pesaro (for the timetable see www.ancona-airport.com).

Urbino is 35 km far away from Pesaro.

Remarks

  1. Departures times are from the the bus station (P. Matteotti) in PESARO and from the bus station (P. Mercatale) in URBINO.
  2. The times in bold refer to the fast buses (Soget company). The fare is 3.20 Euros one way.
  3. The bus leaving from Pesaro at 22.40 (italic bold) on the weekdays belongs to of the private company Bucci. The fare is 3 Euros one way.
  4. The fares for all the other times (Soget company) are 2.20 Euros one way.

Accommodation

Accommodation is not included in the USSP registration fee.

All USSP participants can lodge at the “Collegio Internazionale” if they wish to, at a discounted rate for USSP participants. The Collegio is located in the center of town, 50 m from the main square and ~500 m from the USSP course venue within the University Department. The USSP welcome event (and some other evening events) also take place at the Collegio Internazionale.

  • Accommodation is in double rooms : rate 18 Euros per day per person including breakfast.
  • Please note that this student accommodation block does not have food preparation, storage, or cooking facilities (fridge, microwave, etc.) for health and safety reasons.

There are, of course, alternative accommodation options in Urbino if you prefer not to stay at the Collegio Internazionale (hotels, private rentals, etc).
